These include Power of Veto (or "POV") comps, which allow the winner to veto another HG's nomination for eviction from the House; and Head of Household (or "HOH") comps, which determine who gets immunity at the next eviction and their very own bedroom suite for the week.

Sometimes, comps—or other factors—result in the HGs being divided into "Haves" and "Have-Nots," which means the latter are forced to eat bland food paste called slop, take cold showers, and sleep in the cramped Have-Not bedroom.

Basically, comps are there to spice up the game and throw even more wrenches into players' strategies.

As if there weren't enough harsh humans on Big Brother, each summer, the aptly named "Zingbot" saunters into the BB House unannounced to put the Houseguests in their place.

Whether it's calling out a crybaby, a tyrant, or a flat-out space case, Zingbot delivers carefully curated verbal takedowns that leave the HGs laughing—and sometimes weeping.

There's also OTEV, a competition deity with many ridiculous forms.

Yep, you read that right. Insult robots aren't the only wacky characters to show up at the BB house. OTEV (or "VETO" spelled backwards) is the overlord of its self-named Power of Veto competition—a kind of musical chairs/scavenger hunt hybrid that eliminates Houseguests one by one.

Adding to the intrigue and mystery of OTEV is its physical appearance, which changes every season—a Rockin' Roll, a Pissed-Off Penguin, and a Broadway Clam, to name a few. Who knows how OTEV will manifest itself next!

'Ships... So many 'ships.

If you thought 'shipping—or the fandom surrounding a pair of characters (e.g. a "relationship")—was just for scripted TV, think again! Big Brother has enough romances, bromances, and frenemies to fill a literal house.
